Tengam Engineering Inc., a pioneer in the bonded magnet industry, is pleased to announce that their long-awaited renovation has been completed. The additional space and upgraded interior facilities will be an asset for new customers who partner with Tengam, and Tengam’s employees who will benefit from spacious break areas, upgraded technology resources, and a new state of the art employee gym. The new 17,000 square feet of space also includes an in-house tool room, expanded warehouse, and new manufacturing spaces. Since moving to their current location in 1990, Tengam has experienced continued growth and is now projecting an even stronger market for injection molded magnets. Emerging technology in the automotive and electric motor industry is credited for much of this growth. Changes in the international market have also been observed and offer a positive position for Tengam.
“The completion of this expansion coincides perfectly with the growth Tengam is experiencing. The additional floor space allows us to grow with our current and expanding customer needs,” said Greg Johnson, Operations Manager at Tengam. Johnson also commented that “The product Tengam provides is as competitive as anywhere in the world. These new customers have seen the benefit that a North American supplier can provide from a quality, economic and logistical standpoint.”
Mark McPherson, General Manager at Tengam, states that “The demand for electric and hybrid electric vehicles, and other advancements in automotive technology, have led to the increased demand for bonded magnets.” McPherson also commented that “The growth at Tengam means we will be creating jobs in Otsego. Increased staffing has already started to occur and 2012-2013 looks very positive for increasing this work force even more. Additions of new equipment and machinery will also start to occur during this period. We are very excited about the future of Tengam and what it will bring to Otsego and Southwest Michigan.”
